Lagos Schools Debate Competition
The Lagos Schools Debate Competition (LSDC) is a three-day debate competition that brings together secondary school students from across Lagos to compete, develop their debating skills and gain exposure to high-level debate.
Competition Overview
The Lagos Schools Debate Competition (LSDC) is an annual debate competition organised by DebateChamps in collaboration with the Harvard Debate Council.
The competition brings together students from schools across Lagos for a structured and competitive debating experience. Students compete in an internationally recognised Junior World Schools Debate format, giving them the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills in argumentation, critical thinking, research, public speaking and teamwork.
The inaugural LSDC 2026 brought together 120 students from more than 20 schools, including public and private schools, for three days of competition. The event also welcomed government and education stakeholders, as well as Ed Williams, a delegate from the Harvard Debate Council.
Beyond the competition itself, LSDC provides students with an opportunity to meet other young debaters, gain competitive experience and connect with the wider debate community.
